Lime Repair - Lavender Cottage

Client: Dave & Val Bourke
Location: Frampton, Dorset

Remove cracked cement render and repair.

This building was thought to be a two storey cob cottage, all old photographs showed the building covered in this hard, cracked cement render.

After careful assessment the cement render was removed to reveal a flint, limestone and chalk ground floor with a cob first floor.

To solve damp problems and allow the base of the walls to drain freely a continuous French Drain was installed.

The decision was taken to lime render the cob to protect it and to re-pointed the chalk, flint and stone matching the old lime mortar for colour and texture as closely as possible.
